Kara is an associate in the firm’s corporate practice, where she advises clients on a range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining the firm, Kara was a law clerk at the Metropolitan Government of Nashville Office of the City Council, where she assisted with drafting ordinances containing proposed legislation for the city.
Kara earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was a student attorney and board member for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. In her role, she negotiated on behalf of clients in wage and hour cases, and provided legal services at community outreach events.
During law school, Kara was a contracts teaching fellow and research assistant reviewing contracts cases to be included in a forthcoming casebook. She was also a member of the Black Law Students Association. Kara earned her B.A. summa cum laude from Spelman College.
Kara was a member of Akin’s 2022 summer associate class.
