- Serves on the knowledge management team for the investment management practice, focusing particularly on hedge funds.
Kate focuses her practice on representing fund sponsors in connection with the ongoing operation of private investment funds. She advises clients on fund documents, fund subscription materials and regulatory and compliance issues related to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940 and various securities laws and regulations. Kate has represented fund sponsors in the formation and structuring of hedge and private equity funds.
Prior to rejoining Akin, Kate served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence VanDyke of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and previously as an assistant general counsel to the Office of the Governor of Texas.
