Marc’s practice is concentrated on a range of investment management activities, including the formation and launch of complex fund vehicles and joint ventures, ongoing fund operations and the establishment of emerging investment managers, with a focus on energy & infrastructure funds, real estate funds, evergreen and hybrid structures and sovereign-backed platforms.
He also represents fund sponsors and portfolio company management teams with respect to various strategic transactions, such as portfolio investments and negotiations, co-investments, preferred equity investments, profits interest structures, company restructurings and related corporate transactional matters.
Prior to joining Akin, Marc was an attorney at another major global law firm. He has also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Jane J. Boyle of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Fund Formation
- Represented a private equity sponsor in the formation of multiple infrastructure funds and related co-investment vehicles, each focused on the midstream or services sectors of the oil and gas industry with capital commitments totaling more than $2 billion from institutional taxable, tax-exempt, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and foreign investors.
- Represented various private equity sponsors in the formation of multiple non-operated oil and gas investment funds and their related co-investment vehicles with capital commitments totaling more than $500 million.
- Represented a private equity sponsor in the transition to a renewable energy platform and the formation of their inaugural fund focused on investments related to solar development projects with capital commitments totaling $180 million.
- Represented Saxum Energy Partners in the formation of its inaugural partnership focused on the acquisition of oil and gas mineral interests in the Permian Basin with capital commitments totaling $435 million.
- Represented a private equity sponsor in the formation of an oil and gas investment fund focused on the acquisition of upstream and associated midstream energy assets in the mid-continent region of the United States with capital commitment totaling $380 million.
