A member of the firm’s Supreme Court and appellate group, Margo’s practice focuses on appeals and motions in federal and state tribunals. In particular, Margo regularly represents clients in regulatory litigation challenging agency action.
Margo has authored briefs filed in the U.S. Supreme Court, federal circuit courts of appeals, and federal district courts. She has also provided strategic advice to clients facing or considering litigation.
Previously, Margo served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Raymond M. Kethledge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Honorable Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Margo graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where she received Order of the Coif. While in law school, she served as executive and managing director of the Barristers’ Council, Georgetown Law’s competitive advocacy organization. Margo also worked full time as the digital director for Congressman David Joyce (OH-14) during her first year of law school.
Margo was a member of Akin’s 2018 summer associate class and a 2017 Pro Bono Scholar.
- Argued and won an expedited appeal challenging a federal agency’s order that barred a U.S. manufacturer from shipping (and thus selling) its flagship tool (5th Cir.)
- Successfully represented a national restaurant chain in a suit challenging an order of the National Labor Relations Board (D.C. Cir.)
- Secured a major victory for several industry groups challenging a National Labor Relations Board rule that threatened to expand joint employer liability under the National Labor Relations Act (E.D. Tex.).
- Successfully defended a professional sports league in a long-running putative class action (N.D. Cal.)
- Argued and won a motion for compassionate release for a client who had been incarcerated for more than 30 years (D.C. Superior)
