Matthew is a counsel in the firm’s litigation practice. He handles complex commercial litigation and appeals before state and federal courts and regulatory challenges before federal agencies.
He has used his strengths as a writer and legal researcher to advocate for some of the nation’s largest companies in challenges to federal statutes and regulations, partnership disputes and breach of contract actions. He has also represented shareholder groups, bankruptcy trustees, unsecured creditors’ committees and institutional lenders in complex financial litigation involving fraudulent transfers, director & officer (D&O) liability and fraud.
Matthew began his career clerking for the Honorable Elizabeth L. Branch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the Honorable Drew B. Tipton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
He graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as articles editor for the Georgia Law Review and president of the student chapter of the Federalist Society.

- Representing an energy company in a challenge to industry-disrupting regulation.
- Successfully defended a major telecommunications company in multiple partnership disputes with a total potential liability of over $4 billion by securing favorable resolutions.
- Successfully represented a group of shareholders in a derivative lawsuit against a foreign company leading to the largest shareholder derivative settlement in U.S. history.
- Represented unsecured creditors' committees in major pharmaceutical bankruptcies.
