Matthew Lloyd focuses on complex commercial litigation and securities litigation. He is also experienced in administrative law, antitrust and alternative dispute resolution matters, and he is involved in Akin’s pro bono practice.
Matthew has been actively involved in every phase of litigation in a wide variety of state and federal actions. He works to procure early resolution and continues to trial if necessary, to achieve the best outcome for the client.
Securities Litigation
- Represented the conflicts committee members of a limited partnership in a securities class action alleging conflicted process in an $11 billion transaction, successfully obtaining dismissal in Delaware Chancery Court.
- Obtained dismissal of a derivative securities lawsuit alleging breach of fiduciary duty and unjust enrichment pending against the directors of a publicly traded energy company in Delaware Chancery Court.
- Obtained dismissal in federal district court of a derivative securities lawsuit alleging that the directors of a publicly traded company made materially false and misleading statements.
- Represented a national emergency management and third-party administration firm in a federal district court case regarding alleged misrepresentations in the purchase and sale of company stock.
- Advised a securities broker in an arbitration dispute before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
