McLean Peña is responsible for providing counsel and strategic advice with respect to the firm’s legal affairs, including matters related to risk management, litigation, compliance, insurance, training and ethics. McLean works closely with firm leadership to execute risk management initiatives and other strategic priorities.
For seven years prior to joining the general counsel’s office in 2014, McLean practiced in the firm’s litigation group. She advised domestic and foreign insurers in complex insurance coverage and bad faith actions involving directors and officers, technology, life and professional liability policies, with a particular focus on legal malpractice claims against large law firms.
McLean also represented numerous clients on a pro bono basis, including asylum seekers, unaccompanied children seeking special immigrant juvenile status, disabled veterans and clients challenging the constitutionality of the Texas same-sex marriage prohibition.
During law school, McLean was a clinical fellow in the Center for Ethics and Public Service, a teaching assistant in constitutional law and a Priscilla Schneller Scholar.
