Roger represents and provides strategic advice to clients on a wide range of policy matters, with a focus on international trade and economic policy, foreign policy, Veteran’s research, and appropriations.

With over a decade of private sector experience, Roger has guided clients through numerous major legislative and regulatory efforts in Congress, the Executive Branch, and within the business community. On trade policy, he has guided clients through:

• negotiation and passage of trade agreements
• resolution of specific market access barriers
• oversight related to bilateral negotiations and multilateral organizations

Beyond trade policy, Roger has a diverse range of policy expertise. He has directed and advised numerous policy coalitions on diverse topics, including technology regulation and Veteran’s mental health research.

With a broad political network, Roger serves as one of the firm’s main liaisons to House Democrats, focusing on Democratic leadership, centrist leaders, and members of the Ways and Means, Foreign Affairs, Veterans Affairs, and Appropriations Committees.

Prior to joining Akin in 2010, Roger was managing director at Parven Pomper Strategies (PPS) Inc.

Previously, he served as a trade and health care advisor for Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA), chair of the New Democrat Coalition and a leader on pro-trade Democratic policy. During this time, he helped craft centrist policy proposals related to international trade, health care reform, and the financial crisis. He began his Capitol Hill career with Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-CA).
