We recently celebrated 75 years since our founders Richard A. Gump and Ambassador Robert S. Strauss started the firm in Dallas. They chose Dallas because it was rapidly evolving into a major business center with a central location and the entrepreneurial environment necessary to build a cutting-edge, forward-looking law firm.

Our Dallas office reflects Akin’s strong roots in, and firm commitment to, the Lone Star State.  Thanks to the visionary leadership of our founders and others who came after, we’ve grown Akin into a 900-lawyer global firm positioned at the intersection of commerce, policy and the law. Our Dallas office thrives today with the same spirit, foresight and dedication to delivering the best service possible to our clients locally and worldwide.

The Texas Lawbook included Akin among a group of “elite” firms in Texas whose names denote “prestige, strength, distinction and even superiority” with the “smartest, most successful” lawyers in the Lone Star State, with clients that seek it out for help with “massive problems or bet-the-company matters.”

Law360 also recognized Akin as one of five Texas Powerhouse firms “that showed prowess in delivering for their clients across a wide range of practice groups” and “working on deals both global in scale and those that have a major impact at home in Texas.”

Akin's Dallas office is home to many of the firm’s key practices, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), finance, corporate and securities, energy, investment management, private equity, litigation, data privacy, financial restructuring, real estate, tax and international trade.
