Singapore
Our Singapore office provides legal advice and counseling to U.S. and international clients doing business in Singapore or through its markets. Over the past several years, many of our clients have expanded their operations and investments to China, India and other emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
At the same time, due to proactive government policies and a friendly tax regime, Singapore has become an important hub for investing across Asia. Our Singapore office, together with our Hong Kong office, serves our international client base seeking representation in this increasingly important market.
In addition to supporting the needs of the greater China and Southeast Asia markets, our offices in Asia are also able to guide Japanese and Korean companies through a variety of legal issues, including counseling on international trade and public policy, cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), international energy, utilities and infrastructure projects and private equity and hedge fund formation.
Our flourishing India practice is based on a deep understanding of the interplay of government and business. Over the course of two decades, we have developed strong relationships with several Indian law firms to represent India and U.S.-based clients in India and India-based clients abroad in wide-ranging matters, including representing large India-based and India-focused private equity fund sponsors with their investments and India energy companies with their cross-border needs.
Our lawyers in Singapore have broad and deep experience counseling international clients on project finance, investment fund formation, energy transactions and international trade. In addition, our Singapore office is fully integrated into our firmwide system of cross-border, cross-practice collaboration—a reflection of the knowledge, experience and values of the firm as a whole.
As a function of Akin’s global collaborative system, our Singapore office serves as a portal for regional, U.S. and international clients into a legal services network available around the clock. Consequently, Akin’s Singapore office offers clients counsel in over 85 practices linked across the firm’s offices worldwide, while focusing on its own core strengths.
