Akin Gump to Welcome Corporate Transactions Partner Gavin Weir in London

(London) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that Gavin Weir will join the firm as a partner in its London office. Mr. Weir will join from White & Case, where he has served as co-leader of its Financial Institutions M&A group. He is expected to join Akin Gump later this summer.
Mr. Weir has significant experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on complex, high-end corporate transactions focused on financial institutions (including investment funds), technology and life sciences.
Well known for navigating the intricacies of complex matters with an international dimension, Mr. Weir advises on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, public and private takeovers, auctions, reorganizations, joint ventures, corporate governance and other corporate transactions.
“Gavin is a senior lawyer with broad commercial experience handling public and private M&A transactions across a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions,” commented Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “He will be an ideal complement to our strong corporate, capital markets and restructuring platforms in London and across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the U.S. I am delighted he will be joining us.”

He graduated from Oxford University with a B.A. in law in 1994 and got his L.P.C. from The College of Law in 1995.
