Akin Gump to Welcome Two Leading Private Equity Funds Partners in London

(London) – Akin Gump today announced that private equity funds lawyers Daniel Quinn and Aleksander Bakic will join the firm in London as partners.
Mr. Quinn and Mr. Bakic focus on private equity secondary transactions, institutional investor representations and private equity fund formation. They will come to Akin Gump from O’Melveny & Myers in London. They will join the firm’s investment management practice and transactional platform in London and will work closely with established teams across the United States and Asia.
Their considerable secondary transactions experience includes advising on highly sophisticated and complex general partner-led fund restructurings as well as more traditional portfolio sales. Their institutional investor practice includes a variety of fund investment and co-investment work, and their private equity fund sponsor work includes well-known sponsors focused on developed and developing markets.

Mr. Quinn’s practice focuses on secondaries transactions and private equity fund formation work, advising private investment managers on a wide range of private equity fund formation matters, including the establishment of alternative asset funds, green energy and infrastructure funds, and emerging market and distressed debt funds. Mr. Quinn also acts for a broad range of investors in private equity investing on a primary and secondary basis, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and governmental development agencies.
Mr. Bakic advises European and emerging markets private fund sponsors, as well as investors in private equity, real estate, credit and infrastructure funds, including institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, international organizations, fund of funds, pension funds and family offices in primary and secondary transactions.

Daniel Quinn advises investment managers on a wide range of private equity fund formation matters, including the establishment of alternative asset funds, green energy and infrastructure funds, and emerging market and distressed debt funds. Mr. Quinn also acts for a broad range of investors in private equity, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, governmental development agencies and others on various aspects of their investment programs including participation in funds and co-investments.
In 2015, Private Funds Management magazine named him to its list of top 30 private funds lawyers under 40. He is recognized in the UK Legal 500, 2019 for Private Funds.
Mr. Quinn is a solicitor qualified in Scotland. He received his LL.B from the University of Edinburgh and was awarded the Scots Law Society Prize for Academic Achievement Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Aleksander Bakic works with private equity firms to structure complex funds, managed accounts and co-investments and assist in the negotiation of their terms with investors, providing guidance on the ongoing operation of such funds and other arrangements. His primary asset focus is on European midmarket and African buyouts, including growth and venture strategies.
He speaks English, Slovenian, Italian and Serbo-Croatian and was ranked in the UK Legal 500, 2019 as a "next generation" Investment Funds lawyer.
Mr. Bakic is a solicitor qualified in England & Wales and in Slovenia (non-practicing). He received his LL.B from the University of Ljubljana in 2004 and his LL.M from the London School of Economics in 2006.
