New York-based litigation partner Estela Díaz has been selected as the first Akin Gump attorney to participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program.
The year-long fellowship program identifies high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds and partners them with mentors who provide guidance to the attorney on helping their firm enhance diversity efforts. Fellows participate in professional development seminars, workshops and networking opportunities.
Akin Gump Firmwide Diversity Committee chair Nancy Chung noted, “As a member of the LCLD, we are thrilled that Estela will participate as Akin Gump’s first LCLD Fellow, as she represents a new generation of diverse attorneys at the firm. This program is designed to nurture and enhance important leadership and relationship skills, and we are confident that Estela will bring back what she learns from this experience and “pay it forward” as a mentor for those who will follow her—both at Akin Gump and outside the firm.”
Ms. Diaz’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and labor and employment matters. She is a member of the New York office’s diversity committee and is active in both the firm’s women’s professional development and diversity initiatives.
Current Akin Gump chair Bruce McLean and incoming chair Kim Koopersmith have both been associated with the LCLD Council.
