The Wall Street Journal Ranks Akin Gump as a Top Law Firm for Bankruptcy Work
Contact:
(New York) – Akin Gump has been listed as one of the top law firms for combined creditor and debtor work in a story published by The Wall Street Journal. For creditor work alone, the firm was number one, based on the number of cases handled.
In its story “The Power Players That Dominate Chapter 11 Bankruptcy,” the Journal looks at the key players in major corporate bankruptcies, excluding local counsel law firms. The publication reports that “in nearly two-thirds of the largest Chapter 11 cases of the past decade by assets, at least one of the top 10 power firms [on the list] played a pivotal role representing either the debtor or the official creditors’ committee.”
Akin Gump was recently shortlisted for The Deal Awards in the category of Restructuring Advisory Firm of the Year, and also advised the unsecured bondholders of Seadrill Ltd., which was shortlisted in the Restructuring Deal of the Year category. (Click here to read more.)
