For its article “Firms vie for dominance in new sustainability law practices,” Westlaw Today quoted Akin Gump partner Stacey Mitchell on Akin Gump’s environmental, social and governance practice (ESG).

The article, which discusses the growth of ESG practices in larger law firms, notes Akin Gump as one of the first to establish such a practice, having launched it in September 2015.

Mitchell, who served as Deputy GC at the Environmental Protection Agency and is a leader in the firm’s ESG practice, said that, although it had originally been part of the firm’s international trade group due to its points of tangency with trade issues such as conflicts mineral reporting requirements, the ESG practice has since broadened into a cross-practice effort that includes 38 lawyers and advisors firmwide.
