Biography
  • Focuses on commercial real estate transactions, primarily representing private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, public and private companies, family offices and other institutional and individual investors.

A.Y. Mernick is a member of the firm’s real estate practice. He assists clients with commercial real estate transactions, including:

  • Financings
  • Joint ventures
  • Acquisitions
  • Dispositions
  • Development
  • Leasing.

A.Y. counsels clients in connection with various real estate asset classes, including vacant land, hospitality, office, multi-family, retail and mixed-use buildings, shopping centers, health care and other commercial and residential properties throughout the United States.

Earlier in his career, A.Y. was a senior associate in the transaction advisory services group at Ernst & Young.

Representative Work
  • Represented Colony Capital in connection with:
    • its mezzanine construction loan and preferred equity investment to redevelop the Century Plaza Hotel and construct the adjacent condominium towers
    • its loan to refinance a portfolio of student housing facilities in multiple states
    • its loan in connection with the acquisition of a shopping mall in Georgia.
  • Represented Mesa West Capital in the restructuring of the capital stack secured by the SLS Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
  • Aided a family office as it acquired a portfolio of 25 limited-service hotels located in 4 states with a new joint venture partner.
  • Assisted a national bank with a senior secured revolving credit facility.
