- Project finance lawyer specialised in structuring, financing and delivering international energy, infrastructure and natural resources projects.
- Advises on complete range of transactions supporting the energy transition, including power, energy transition metals, gigafactories, battery and energy storage, electric vehicles, carbon capture and storage and clean hydrogen.
- Experience covering the full spectrum of debt finance products, including project finance, leveraged finance, acquisition finance, pre-export finance, trade finance, receivables finance, royalty finance and streaming.
- Significant experience advising on emerging market investments across Africa and Latin America.
Dan advises on complex, first-of-their-kind energy, infrastructure and natural resources projects globally, with a particular focus on transactions driven by the energy transition. He has worked on core and non-core infrastructure, telecoms, power, renewable energy, biomass, energy from waste, oil and gas and mining transactions with a value of more than $20 billion.
His clients include banks, funds, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, monolines and other financial institutions (including non-bank alternative capital providers and institutional investors), corporates, traders, governments, developers and private equity sponsors.
Dan’s expertise covers cross-border project finance, acquisition finance, leveraged finance, sustainable finance and other forms of structured debt finance (covering senior/subordinated/mezzanine/ second-lien structures, covered and uncovered bonds, high yield, unitranche financings and private placements).
He has extensive experience advising on emerging market investments.
Dan has practiced in London, New York and Singapore.
Energy/Energy transition
- Advising a government on the structuring and delivery of an integrated lithium value chain, including mine, process facility, lithium hydroxide refinery, CAM and battery manufacturing facilities.
- Advising World Energy on the offtake, design, construction and financing of its 3GW green ammonia production facility in Canada.
- Advising a government on the structuring, delivery and financing of a 1GW solar project.
- Advising Cory and Sheen Parkside in connection with their thermal battery joint venture seeking to decarbonise heating by supplying district heat networks and industrials with low-carbon heat.
- Advising Standard Chartered Bank, Société Générale, Absa, Export Development Canada, Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund Limited, CDC Group Plc and Hungarian Export-Import Bank Private Limited Company on the $450m project financing of a gas to power project in Ghana. This is the first IPP to be developed in sub-Saharan Africa without any credit support from the World Bank.
