With over 15 years of experience representing public and private companies and their senior executives before state and federal courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels, Jessica guides clients through a variety of complex and sensitive workplace challenges.

Jessica is an accomplished trial lawyer and regularly defends clients against a wide variety of employment claims involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation; contract, compensation and restrictive covenant disputes; and tort claims including fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference and defamation. In addition to litigation defense, Jessica routinely counsels employers with respect to their employment policies and procedures, terminations and other disciplinary actions, employment and separation agreements and litigation avoidance strategies. She provides employee trainings regarding harassment and discrimination, professional conduct and best practices for human resources professionals. Jessica also has substantial experience conducting internal investigations into employee misconduct.
Prior to joining Akin, Jessica served as co-chair of the employment practices and litigation group at a leading national litigation firm. She also previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office and was an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at Fordham University School of Law. Jessica regularly speaks on trends in employment law.
- Represents Vince McMahon, former CEO of WWE, in defense of claims brought in federal court by a former employee.
- Lead trial counsel for a network of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, in winning a three-week jury trial in a case brought by a former employee claiming retaliation under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. The jury in the Essex County, New Jersey Court found that the employee had not established that the nursing home had engaged in unlawful retaliation and rejected all of the employee’s claims for economic damages, emotional distress damages and punitive damages.
- Represented a national real estate brokerage firm, in successfully defending numerous employment matters, including defense of claims brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law, as well as claims of discrimination under New York State Human Rights Law alleging a hostile work environment; a wage and hour case; an EEOC case asserting sexual harassment claims; and arbitrations in front of the Real Estate Board of New York involving commission disputes.
- Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction from the Southern District of New York on behalf of a mobile messaging company enforcing restrictive covenants and enjoining former employees from working for any competitor and from soliciting any of the clients’ employees, clients, suppliers, customers or business prospects.
- Defended an employee at an international law firm, against sexual harassment, in a highly publicized purported “#MeToo” claim.
