Concentrates practice on financial restructuring litigation, with a particular emphasis on contested matters and adversarial proceedings arising in complex chapter 11 cases.
Jillian Kulikowski represents private and multinational companies in complex commercial disputes and bankruptcy litigation.
Jillian’s pro bono practice focuses on immigration cases. Jillian works closely with Her Justice, a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services to low-income women in matrimonial, family and immigration law. In 2024, HerJustice honored Jillian with its John K. Geiger Award, which honors attorneys whose “unyielding compassion and dedication towards their clients is in a league of its own.”
Jillian received a J.D. in 2018 from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as Business Manager for Volume 39 of the Cardozo Law Review and worked as a student intern in the Bet Tzedek Civil Litigation Clinic. She graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Order of the Coif.
Jillian holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Theology from Fordham University, where she was a member of Phi Sigma Tau, the international honors society for philosophers.
Jillian was a member of Akin’s 2017 summer associate class.
- Purdue Pharma: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Purdue Pharma and its affiliates, the privately held pharmaceutical company and maker of OxyContin, involving over a trillion dollars of asserted claims.
- SVB Financial Group: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 case of SVB Financial Group, the former parent company of Silicon Valley Bank, involving more than $3.4 billion in liabilities.
- GWG Holdings: Counsel to the Official Committee of Bondholders in the chapter 11 restructuring of over $2 billion in liabilities of GWG Holdings, Inc.
- Celsius: Special litigation counsel to Celsius Network in adversary proceeding against asset custodian.
- Aeroméxico: Counsel to an ad hoc group of senior noteholders of Aerovías de México in the chapter 11 restructuring of $2 billion in liabilities of Aeroméxico, Mexico’s flagship airline. Cross-border Restructuring of the Year - Over $1B (M&A Advisor)
