Lauren is a Washington, D.C.-based senior counsel in Akin’s lobbying & public policy practice, with a focus on tax policy. She brings extensive experience in government affairs, corporate advocacy and legislative strategy, providing guidance to clients that are navigating complex tax policy issues. Lauren has a proven track record of crafting innovative legislative solutions and delivering impactful results for clients, drawing on insights from her time on Capitol Hill and the private sector and now advising a diverse array of clients at Akin.
With a deep understanding of the U.S. tax code, Lauren is uniquely able to distill intricate policy challenges to build and implement sophisticated advocacy strategies. She provides valuable insights to clients across various sectors, including technology, financial services and energy, that they can leverage to manage risks and opportunities in the ever-changing policy environment.
Prior to joining Akin, Lauren was a Senior Manager in the tax, legislative and regulatory group at a Big Four consulting firm where she helped Fortune 100 clients achieve their legislative and regulatory objectives before Congress, the White House, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service.
A Capitol Hill veteran, Lauren served as Legislative Director and Counsel for Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA) where she helped shape Rep. DelBene’s legislative agenda. In this capacity, she helped craft a number of landmark policy initiatives—including, most notably, national consumer data privacy legislation, also known as the Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act. Lauren also played a critical role in creating and leading bipartisan coalitions to advance various tax policy initiatives.
