Sharmila is an associate in the firm’s corporate practice. Her practice focuses on energy regulatory matters in the natural gas, electricity and renewable energy industries. She also has experience representing clients in investigations and regulatory enforcement matters, including before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Department of Justice and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Prior to joining Akin, Sharmila was an energy regulatory associate at another multinational law firm in New York.
Sharmila earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she served as an associate editor for the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law.
She earned her B.S.F.S. in international politics from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
