Dr. Svetlana Pavlovic combines her technical background and legal experience to assist clients through all stages of litigation, from pre-suit analysis and strategy to trial. She has represented some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies in litigation for blockbuster drugs.
In addition to her intellectual property practice, Svetlana advises leading research institutions in navigating research misconduct allegations and False Claims Act investigations.
Prior to attending law school, Svetlana earned her Ph.D. in cancer biology from a joint Ph.D. program between Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her graduate work focused on understanding the cellular mechanisms that contribute to breast cancer.
- Represented Bristol-Myers Squibb, Ono Pharmaceutical Co. and Nobel laureate Dr. Tasuku Honjo in multiple patent infringement litigations against AstraZeneca related to transformative immuno-oncology treatment methods. All cases reached settlements favorable to our clients.
- Represented Boston Scientific in a series of patent and trade secret infringement litigations against Nevro Corp. relating to spinal cord stimulation technology in the district of Delaware. The first jury trial in the series of matters occurred in October 2021 where the jury returned a verdict finding Nevro liable for willful patent infringement and awarded Boston Scientific $20 million in damages. All matters settled favorably prior to the subsequently scheduled trials.
- Represented pharmaceutical companies in a correction of inventorship action related to patents involving methods of treating cancer with antibodies.
- Represented 3M Company in an enforcement action concerning fraudulent offers for sale and counterfeit sales of goods misbranded as 3M personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. This included securing a victory for 3M in the Central District of California, obtaining a default judgment and permanent injunction.
- Represented plaintiff 3M Company in a patent infringement dispute against competitor Kerr Corporation involving 3M’s innovative dental composite materials. After successive victories for 3M in connection with Markman proceedings and Daubert motions, the case settled in December 2019.
- Representing an asylum seeker in a pro bono case.
