Our lawyers and advisors have extensive knowledge of, and experience with, all facets of food and agriculture policy and compliance—including domestic farm and nutrition programs, federal requirements, international trade and food aid, and foreign government policies—as well as established relationships with key officials and representatives in both government and related private organizations.

Our food and agricultural experience is strongest in four areas: domestic farm policy and commodity programs; U.S. nutrition and hunger policy, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) child nutrition and school lunch programs; food and nutrition policies by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and international trade policies affecting agriculture and food products—including the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Uruguay Round Agreement and Doha Development Agenda—and other international trade regimes. In addition, our team members have experience with regard to biofuels policy and conservation programs, and we work in collaboration with the lawyers in our food, drug and device law practice.

We work extensively with key members of Congress and staff who serve on each of the relevant congressional committees—the Senate and House Agriculture committees; Senate and House Agriculture Appropriations subcommittees; Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee; House Education and Labor Committee; Senate Finance Committee; and House Ways and Means Committee. At the USDA, we have worked closely with policy-makers in the Food and Nutrition Service and within the Office of the Secretary. At the FDA, we have worked closely with policy-makers across the agency, including within the Office of the Commissioner.
