Biography
  • Focuses on a range of energy transactions including renewable generation projects, energy storage facilities, hydrogen production facilities and transmission systems.

Jameson focuses his practice on a wide range of energy transactions including renewable generation projects, energy storage facilities, hydrogen production facilities, transmission systems, gas-fired power generation facilities and natural gas pipelines. He also advises on mergers & acquisitions (M&A), financing and development transactions for clients including energy infrastructure funds, energy development companies, tax equity investors, utilities and transmission owners and companies.

Prior to joining Akin, he was an associate in the energy sector group of a global law firm, and previously an associate in the energy regulatory group of a regional law firm based in Boston. He earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, where he served as the articles editor of the Northeastern University Law Journal. He also earned his MBA, with a focus in finance, from the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.

Prior to practicing law, Jameson was an accountant for a large financial services firm.

Jameson combines his accounting background, legal training and business degree to provide clients with a comprehensive and practical view of the commercial and legal considerations of the transaction before them.

Representative Work
  • Represented both Fiera Infrastructure Inc., an affiliate of Fiera Capital Corporation, and Palisade Infrastructure Group in the acquisition of 100% of the equity interests of Amp U.S. Primary Holdings Inc., a U.S.-based renewable energy generation and battery storage business and the related financing.
  • Represented SUSI Partners in their acquisition of the controlling interest in Encore Renewable Energy, a U.S.-based certified B Corporation specializing in the development, construction and operation of distributed and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage assets.
  • Advised MJE-Loop Capital in the investment by Hull Street Energy in Greenskies Clean Focus which develops, owns and operates distributed solar projects.
  • Represented National Grid with respect to various requests for proposals (RFPs) associated with the upgrade and expansion of transmission systems in support of New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.
  • Represented a national bank in the evaluation of proposals for U.S. procurement of renewable energy and associated renewable energy certificates (RECs), and the negotiation and execution of a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with respect to a wind generation project.
  • Represented a large pharmaceutical company in the evaluation of proposals for renewable energy procurement and associated RECs, and the negotiation and execution of a series of VPPAs with respect to both solar and wind generation projects.
  • Advised a West Coast utility in the negotiation of a build-to-own arrangement for a wind generation project.
  • Secondment with a renewable energy development company with investments in utility scale solar PV, wind and storage projects.
  • Assisted in acting as counsel to an association of natural gas shippers on regulatory issues.
  • Actively participated in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hearing and settlement proceedings involving natural gas transportation rates on behalf of shippers, local distribution companies (LDCs) and industrial offtakers.
  • Assisted in compiling and conducting annual FERC compliance training and establishing in-house compliance programs for natural gas producers, traders and end users.
  • Prepared comments on industry-wide rulemakings regarding income tax allowances and price indices.
  • Assisted in representing LDCs before state regulators in distribution rate proceedings, obtaining regulatory approval for sale of operating affiliate, and various proposed rulemakings and investigations.
