Jason Sison focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, shareholder activism (both activist and defense side) and general corporate governance matters.
Prior to joining Akin as an attorney and while attending law school, Jason worked at the firm as a law clerk and as a paralegal.
Representative Work
- Represented a privately owned provider of health care services in its acquisition of a NYSE-listed health care provider in a take-private transaction.
- Assisted with a global private equity fund’s acquisition of a controlling interest in an online job recruiting company and with corporate governance matters for the portfolio company post-closing.
- Advised various activist investment funds in their nominations of directors to the boards of several NYSE and NASDAQ-listed companies.
- Represented an activist investor in its negotiation for seats on the board of a NASDAQ-listed organic food and personal care products company.
- Prepared successful requests for no-action relief from the SEC staff to allow a client to exclude shareholder proposals from its annual meeting proxy material.
