Jonathan’s practice focuses on complex intellectual property litigation involving a variety of technologies, including video game software, electronics, telecommunications, and medical devices and systems. He has experience representing clients in U.S. district courts across the country and in USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings such as inter partes review.
He has worked on many phases of litigation, including motion practice, fact and expert discovery, depositions, inter partes review proceedings, case strategy development, and the preparation of witnesses and arguments for trial. He has substantial experience drafting technical specifications and managing extensive projects that adds to his appreciation of the challenges companies face. His professional experience and technical education helps him understand his clients’ technologies as well as their business and legal needs.
Before becoming an attorney, Jonathan was an applications engineer for Siemens Energy, handling projects for industrial gas turbines in power generation applications. As an engineer with NOV, he managed technical specifications and commercial proposals for onshore drilling rig projects, and assisted in the management of their land structures and moving systems product lines.
In addition to his intellectual property litigation work, Jonathan has advocated for pro bono clients on a variety of matters, including:
- Successfully represented client seeking asylum from dangerous conditions against women in her home country.
- Prepared trademark applications for a local K-8th school.
During law school, Jonathan was inducted into the National Order of Scribes for his accomplishments in legal writing. Jonathan also interned for The Hon. Frances H. Stacy, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
