Mouna Moussaoui advises in complex cross-border disputes, including restructuring and insolvency-related litigation, high-profile finance litigation and commercial litigation, across a range of sectors. Mouna is recommended as a Key Lawyer for banking litigation by The Legal 500, where clients describe her as a “litigation star” who is “very engaged with her cases and her client's objectives.” In 2024, Mouna was nominated for Disputes Lawyer of the Year by the Women and Diversity in Law Awards.

Representative Work
  • Acted for the opposing ad hoc group of noteholders in the restructuring of the Adler group, involving the first fully contested valuation challenge of a restructuring plan and the first restructuring plan to be considered by the Court of Appeal.
  • Acted for an ad hoc group of lenders in the contested McDermott International restructuring, in the context of the amendment and extension of $2.6 billion of secured debt.
  • Acted in the Commercial Court for one of central Europe's largest supermarket retailers in a novel application of the law of equitable redemption, in the context of a EUR +1 bn refinancing, following issues arising from the existence of sanctioned holders in its capital structure.
  • Acted for an ad hoc committee of bondholders of US$230 million convertible bonds on a restructuring plan under Part 26A of the Companies Act.
  • Acted for a top oil and gas companies in a US$300 million complex fraud claim in the Commercial Court against four high-net-worth individuals.
  • Advising the majority bondholder in respect of US$88 million defaulted secured bonds in the context of a creditor’s winding up petition.
  • Successfully acted for an individual defendant with respect to allegations of fraud brought by Yukos Finance in the Commercial Court. The case was widely reported and described in the legal press as one of the ‘Top 20 Cases’ to be heard in the UK in 2019.
  • Acted for a London-based investment fund in the Financial List with respect to the contractual interpretation of a put option and issues under the Market Abuse Regulation for the trading of debt securities.
