Akin has one of the most experienced and sophisticated government contracts practices in the nation. We represent clients in all aspects of government procurement, especially as it relates to the U.S. supply chain, Defense Production Act and section 889(a)(1)(A), section 889(a)(1)(B) of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and related cybersecurity requirements. We help our clients navigate country of origin and related requirements, manage their subcontractors and mitigate the risks of counterfeit part.
Our lawyers and advisors are at the forefront of supply chain issues, providing comprehensive counsel to clients. Our government contracts team works with Akin colleagues across practices, including telecom, media and technology (TMT), congressional investigations, energy, healthcare and life sciences, international trade, investment management, and public law and policy.
Our government contracts team advises on the complete life cycle of the federal contracting process with a focus on critical supply chain issues related to implementation of the NDAA and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). We help clients anticipate, prepare for and shape the changing legal and policy environment in order to address the national and economic security concerns of the U.S. supply chain.
We have extensive experience in contracting matters with the departments of Defense, Energy, Interior, Homeland Security, Labor and Veterans’ Affairs, as well as the General Services Administration. Notably, our government contracts team includes a former administrator for federal procurement policy within the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) at the White House.
